That Taylor Swift is the biggest and most powerful artist in the world everyone knows! But did you know she helped to save the United States Grand Prix? Detail, it was cancelled at the time.

Between Indianapolis in 2007 and COTA in 2012, there were no races in the United States. COTA became one of the drivers' favorite track and popular with fans. However, the attendance was low: 265,000 in 2012, and for the two consecutive years, it dropped even further to 250,000 in 2013, and 237,000 in 2014.

Just when things seemed like they couldn't get any worse, in 2015, due to Hurricane Patricia, Free Practice 2 was canceled, and qualifying was postponed until Sunday. Attendance was 224,000. If the low attendance was already causing concern about the race's popularity, questions about its future began to arise, as the week after the race, Governor Greg Abbott's office announced a $6 million cut in state funding.

The 2016 calendar was announced, and COTA was marked with an asterisk, only being confirmed on March 9th, after pre-season testing. However, the announcement was unusual,  the press release was not focus on the race itself, but on who would perform on Saturday.

It's common to have weekend concerts; Elton John is an example of a headliner who has performed.

If F1 needed audience, why not bring in the biggest artist of the moment?

The year was 2016,  Taylor Swift was the biggest artist at the time, due to the 1989 era. But when someone is at the top, there will be people hating you and praying for a downfall. With the help of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, she became the most hated artist of the time. Taylor hadn't performed a concert since the end of the 1989 World Tour. Swifties were dying to see her on stage again.

Of course, there was criticism from Formula 1 fans, but the bounce back was there.

On October 22nd, Taylor performed on the Saturday after qualifying, with a 15-song setlist, including a first-time performance of "This is What You Came For," a song she wrote for Calvin Harris and Rihanna.

In 2016, the attendance reached nearly 270,000 fans, the crucial revival the Grand Prix needed, a new demographic: younger and more diverse!

O calendário de 2016 foi anunciado e a corrida estava com um asterisco, sendo confirmada apenas em 9 de Março, após os testes de pré-temporada, mas o anúncio foi incomum já que o foco do press release não estava focado na corrida, em sim em que se apresentaria no sábado.

É comum ter concertos no final de semana Elton John é um exemplo de headline que já se apresentou.
